Professor Kefah Mokbel is a Consultant in Breast Disease and Surgery, Breast Cancer and Cosmetic Breast Surgery.
He is currently the lead Breast Surgeon at the London Breast Institute at The Princess Grace Hospital and NHS Consultant Surgeon at St. George’s Hospital in London where he is also a Reader in Breast Surgery. He is a Professor of Breast Cancer Surgery at The Brunel Institute of Cancer Genetics and Pharmacogenomics and is the President of the “Breast Cancer Hope” charity.
Professional Biography
Professor Mokbel qualified from the University of London in 1990. After completing his basic surgical training in London teaching hospitals he became a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons in 1994. He subsequently underwent higher surgical training in breast surgery at St Mary’s Hospital and St. Barts and the Royal London Hospitals. He obtained the certificate of specialist training in General Surgery with a special interest in Breast and Endocrine Surgery in 2000. In the same year he was awarded the degree of Master of Surgery (MS) by Imperial College, London for his research into breast cancer.
After his accreditation he was appointed as a Consultant Breast & Endocrine Surgeon to St. George’s Hospital. In 2002 he was appointed a Professor at The Brunel Institute of Cancer Genetics and Pharmacogenomics and then in 2005 he was appointed a Reader in Breast Surgery at St. George’s Hospital at the University of London for his considerable contribution in the field of breast cancer.

Academic Interest
Professor Mokbel has had over 170 scientific papers published in the medical literature and has written 10 academic books. He is a board reviewer for international medical journals. He lectures nationally and internationally and teaches modern breast surgery.
He has an active research and teaching programme at the London Breast Institute, St. George’s Hospital and The Brunel Institute of Cancer Genetics and Pharmacogenomics. He also teaches undergraduate medical students and supervises postgraduate studies.
Professor Mokbel is also a regular contributor to the national and international media in publications including: The Times; The Telegraph; The Guardian; BBC; Sky News and NBC Washington.
Professor Mokbel is the founder and president of “Breast Cancer Hope;” a charity dedicated to improving the quality of life for breast cancer patients.
In 2006 and 2007 he was named as one of Tatler magazines “Top Breast Surgeons.”
